Kansas City Gangsters Tour
Tour Details
Do you dare to venture into the dangerous and fascinating world of Kansas City during the Prohibition era? Political corruption, bootlegging, and organised crime dominated the city for years, turning it into one of the most dangerous places in the United States. It was the wild heart of the Midwest!
We’ll meet at 30 W Pershing Rd, very close to the iconic Union Station, to begin our Kansas City gangsters’ tour. From there, we’ll journey into the city’s darkest past to uncover the true stories of the mafia.
Throughout the tour, we’ll walk in the footsteps of prominent figures such as John Lacia, Pretty Boy Floyd, and the corrupt politician Tom Pendergast.
We’ll pass by former meeting places of the organised crime gangs that ruled the city, speakeasies and venues linked to the criminal underworld. We won’t miss Pendergast’s office, Union Station or the market, which witnessed several attacks.
We’ll also see photos and videos from the era, a perfect way to discover what Kansas City was like back then and how it shaped the city’s identity, politics, reputation and even its music scene right up to the present day. Did you know that jazz clubs were used for much more than just listening to music?
Finally, after a 2.5-hour tour, we’ll say our goodbyes at 20 E 5th St., very close to City Market Park, and bring our gangster tour to a close.
